VisualWorks SmallTalk Screencasts
I have recently been watching some introductory screencasts from Cincom’s SmallTalk site. These are short little videos that introduce some feature of the SmallTalk language or the VisualWorks environment. The very first one is in .wmv format. All others are Flash videos.
This limits where I can view them–I avoid Flash on most of my computers, refusing to install it because of the distracting advertising that is the primary use of Flash–but this is quite a bit less bandwidth than it would be if they were all Windows Media. I don’t know how Flash compares to QuickTime (.mp4 / .qt4) or , but I tend to view video that format if I have the choice.
These kinds of resources are great introductions, perfect for stirring up interest in using the language and the environment. I commend James Robertson, the head of Cincom’s SmallTalk product line. Perhaps someone from REBOL Technologies should do a similar series for the REBOL language and environment.
